Breaking the habit of toddler sleeping with mommy and he’s just soooooo sad?
I’ll admit, I got my 17 month old used to sleeping with me, but I have had to break him of the habit. three days in and he just cries, until he’s exhausted. I’ve never been a cry it out parent, but as soon as I go in the room he latches onto me and just wants me to HOLD HIM. As soon as I pick him up, he falls asleep agian, but wakes up when I lay him down.
I gave him my bathrobe and he will bury his face in it, but I just feel bad that he is so desperate for me to hold him, especially after putting him in daycare for the first time.
I don’t want to cave! Please, tell me what you did if you had to get your kids i thier own bed. He’s crying right now, “Hold me, hold me.” Its awful.
he ended up with me originally because his bed broke, and it just took a while to gt the money to fix it.
Maybe the new bed is bugging him too?
He hadn’t slept with me since he was 6 months old in a bassinet ( and that’s not really WITH me, just close)
Gradually get him used to sleeping on his own. Let him sleep with you a few times a week, then go down to two nights a week, then one, and he’ll be more comfortable with the idea of sleeping on his own. Remember, he’ll thank you for this later in life.
