Can someone help with my plumbing problem?
While in my basement I heard water dripping and discovered that the drainage pipe from my shower/bath to the sewage was disconnected. It was PVC connected to a cast iron pipe leading from the shower. I figured it had only been hand tightened and had over time worked itself loose. The problem is I don’t know how they were connected. One doesn’t thread into the other and there’s no sign of what connected them. Is it possible that they were somehow glued together and it just gave out? I’ve lived here nearly 2 years without the slightest leak until today.
Carefully measure the outside diameter of each pipe. Go to a plumbing supply house and get a “No Hub” or “Calder” style rubber boot connector that will adapt to the existing sizes.
